curtain project on hold~

I thought I was going to get a bit of time this morning to sew up the kitchen curtain project ~but, things got off to a very busy start with plenty of unexpected ~so ~ it will wait until things slow down a bit ~

I had taken down the kitchen curtain back in the spring in the midst of a cleaning jag :) and was looking for something fun to do to the window ~ when I saw Amy's awning inspiration yesterday that was it ~ love awnings and had been trying to figure out how to do one in the kitchen ~ thanks Amy. Love this project ~ and had everything I needed to do it ~ had picked up the two squares of sheer rosy fabric at goodwill years ago for a total of 99 cents ! will sew a hem in the back of them and add ribbons down the middle since I have to leave a opening for the chandelier cord. It will look better all tidied up right now it is just draped over the tension rods ~ Will show it again as soon as the project is done :) Hoping to have just a few more weeks of too busy and then be back to just regular busy :) It's all good though :)

Have a haPPy weekend :)

fairie flowers ~

does anyone know what this flower really is ? I bought it at a yard sale early in spring and planted it in the garden ~ a few weeks later these delightful flowers started blooming and are still blooming ~ love the way they each drape down from a single long stem.

Started working on the sweetest kitchen window project today ~ will finish it up in the morning and share pic's tomorrow.

lovely day wishes to you :)

Update : it's a flowering maple :)

this is why I tucked some blueberries in the freezer at the peak of season~

to make a blueberry crisp with ~ from a recipe filed away on a vintage card ~ served right from the oven along side a scoop of ice cream ~ EVERYONE loved it ! Can't wait to make more :)

The busy is still going strong ~but it was fun to stop for a blueberry moment :)

early morning when the sun was just

starting to peek through the crepe myrtle I filled the watering can and gave all the flowers a drink, a slow start to another very busy day :).
Thanks for the kind comments ~
Here's the recipe :
Fresh Apple Cake
2 cups sugar
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Sift all the dry together
1 1/2 cups oil
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
mix together well ~ add to dry ~ add 3 cups of fresh granny smith apple chunks (not too small chunks)~ (I use 3 large apples)
Batter WILL be stiff ~ put in 13x9 UNgreased pan~ bake @ 350 for 40 to 50 minutes. When it looks brown and has come away from the edges you can tell it is done. :)
Makes the house smell good and the cake is SO good :)
This is recipe is a favorite :)

even though our summer is ~

filled with super busy ~super hectic ~ am making sure to fill it with tiny bits too ~ like fresh flowers from the garden for the little jug in the kitchen ~ popping lots of caladuim bulbs in the gardens for later summer and fall color~ and baking a fresh apple cake ~ would like to bake one of these every day just for the smell ~ and the taste ~ and for a reason to use my polka dotty baking pan :) .
