stormy day things

Yesterday it rained most of the day so~ spent some time in the sewing room , because I had to stop everything and make this neat Japanese knot bag that Junie Moon shared on her blog yesterday from this tutorial ! Such a fun little bag ! Used leftover fabric for mine ~ only used interfacing on the bottom and I reversed the bottom fabrics, using the inside fabric on the outside ~etc ~ My fabric has little birds and wild roses, the inside fabric is linen ~ and matches the color of the birds. Thanks Junie and Helen for sharing this :) Today was stormy ~ much thunder and lighting so waited until it passed to get on to computer ~ what to do in a storm ~ run over to play with the puppies :) They personalities are really starting to come through~ lily , is so sweet and loves to cuddle , rose is silly and loves to run around and play ~ got the sweetest pic's and of course the camera battery has to be recharged on it before I can download them so will share those on Monday.
Also ran to the market for milk and found these pretty roses for the kitchen table. :) Skipping through the puddles with roses, and playing with puppies ~ perfect stormy day things :)

before the rain

I hurried into the garden this morning as rain is predicted to come in, we really need the rain, and always happy to have a cozy rain day. Cut some roses to dry, cleaned the rose bushes of spent blossoms, did some weeding and dug out more of the new area and planted another rose bush ~
checked out the new day lily blooms ~ planted more flower seeds~
cleaned and refilled the hummingbird feeder :) . And now am listening to the rain fall :).

Yesterday worked some on the sewing project ~ will work more on it today and hope to show it on Monday. Will get out the mixing bowls and wooden spoons to cook up something yummy and sweet in the kitchen, and have a cozy book to spend a bit of a rainy day with :).

The tiny puppies are Chihuahua's ~ they are so little my husband can fit them both in one hand at the same time :) They are starting to walk and will climb up on your lap if you sit on the floor :).

fun little things

This morning has been filled with enough fun things for a full day ~ ran out really early to wish someone special a Happy Birthday :) On the way home a bunny raced beside my car for a whole block :). Once in the door went straight to the craft room ~ made another little music backed crystal. Then playing in the button bowl~
Made this button flower brooch for my jean jacket :) . Though I won't wear it until fall I wanted to get a few touches made for it, (next is making lace edging for it :)) . The button flower was such a super quick and easy craft will make a few in bright fun colors for sun dresses. :). Click here to find the instructions ~and see lots of them in the sweetest colors :).

Now am off to the garden~ digging out two more areas for flowers :) And when I come back in will dust and spend a bit of time sewing :).

the ignored cupboard

Above the kitchen sink is a high open cupboard, to match the open cupboard under the sink ~ this cupboard has been pretty much ignored or used as a catch -all. Have tossed around ideas for it ~ thought about putting a vintage tea set in it ~ plants~ change it with the seasons ~ so far non of that has been done.

So today started in a tiny way to decorate the ignored cupboard ~ took a old crystal ~ copied and reduced a piece of vintage music on to a ercu paper and put it on the back of the crystal ~Put that on a vintage napkin and put it on the bottom of the cupboard. The cupboard will most likely end up painted and appliques added to it. Will still think about what to add to the shelf ~ really leaning toward the vintage tea set idea though.
Finally dug out the crochet pattern for lace that I want to make for the door basket lining ~ will start on it today . Playing a bit of catch-up now in the house after yesterday's hectic running.

roses and lilies

It has started out quite hectic even for a Monday , already cooking ~baking~ errands ran and still so much more to fit into today ~
Went to visit the tiny puppies this weekend and ~long story~ short ~ we are getting both baby rose and baby lily :) We couldn't bear for lily, to be adopted outside the family sooooo~ it will be a summer of puppies here :) How much more work can it be to train two at the same time ?? Will find out :) . Am stocking up on tiny chew sticks and little stuffed doggie toys ~ the girls will be 8 weeks and come home around mid~June :). Good thing the puppies will be small dogs and papa doggie is going in this week to get fixed. baby rose is on the right and baby lily left. Such sweet little pups :) . They are starting to stand now :).

Perfect weather this morning in the garden , decided to make a bit more space for flowers in the front garden ~ will dig it out tomorrow and plant it :) . The rose bush planted Friday is already putting out sprouts ~ more planting this week ~ and lots of weeds have popped up too !

Hoping tomorrow to get a fun little project done to share :)

it seems the days just

fly by ~ went to see our baby rose today, her sweet little eyes are open ~ will share pic's soon :) Can hardly wait until she is walking, and really can't wait to bring her home~ Oh Yeah ~she's our puppy :) .

One of the roses arrived for the garden this afternoon so will be planting it this evening. Found a Meyer lemon tree at the garden center today ~ and seeds arrived by post ~ so there will be plenty of planting to get done this weekend :)

Have decided to blog Monday ~ Friday and not on the weekends anymore ~ I love to blog but, the time on the weekend is so much more hectic to try to find to get at the computer ~ Will have a extra big Monday post though to share each week :) . Have some fun projects inside and out planned to get done over the next few weeks too :).

pink tweet :)

A few weeks ago when I was out of town ~ did a bit of shopping :) And found a awesome bargain ~ this full/queen size quilt regular 99.99 on clearance for 14.99!!!!!! It is sooooo pretty with quilted roses on both sides ! Put it in our living room, to cuddle up with :)
And the quilt came with a set of shams !!! I didn't need any shams ~ so in a effort not to add to the clutter of just storing things not used ~I decided to make some quilted birds using this neat book :) And the shams work perfect ~ the tops of them are quilted but the backing unlined which worked for the bird bottoms and the ties can be used as the hangers ~making this project super fast ~
I stuffed the birds with lavender ~
and a idea in the same book I really loved was using tissue paper to put a gift in ~ it shows using a square piece of tissue paper ~but I thought a pink bird needs to be in a pink egg shape :) and I added the "pinking"shears cutting around it ~ I will be using this idea alot ~ having lots of fun with it ~ in bunny shapes, hearts, stars, flower etc. :)

The three birdies in the fern nest have all flown off ~ another set of birds (the cocoa husk couple ) have built in one of the other ferns and she is already sitting on eggs ~ she just sits and looks out of the top of the fern as we come and go ~ will try to get her pic :)
